Why Digiter exists

About us

Digiter is a Finnish non-profit association. We develop digital services on people’s terms — not based on organisational assumptions.

Our starting point is simple: digitalisation should make everyday life easier. Yet many still face situations where a form becomes a barrier, a system feels confusing, or their own skills don’t seem enough. These are exactly the moments Digiter focuses on.

For situations like these, we are also developing Digiter’s Form Interpreter, which helps people understand what forms are really asking and how to respond to them, including when the language is unfamiliar or not their own. Explore the Form Interpreter ->

What we do

We design and test new digital solutions — through practical experiments, prototypes and pilots. One example is our Digital Services Mapping tool, which helps users identify situations where digital services could genuinely make things easier. At the same time, it helps us understand what needs remain unresolved.

We also develop approaches for the controlled renewal of legacy systems, such as the Gentle Exit model, where the transition from old to new happens step by step without risking current operations.

We take part in projects as a partner. We actively follow emerging funding and collaboration opportunities and assess where Digiter’s expertise can bring real value.

How we work

Digiter’s development work is currently driven largely by volunteer effort. Our work is supported by several international nonprofit programmes that provide infrastructure and tools, including Google Cloud, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, the ElevenLabs Impact Program, Canva for Nonprofits, and the Kanavana development environment.
